Powering Up the Pyramids: Sungrow's Big Bet on Egypt's Clean Energy Future

A New Factory Rises in the Desert
So here's some exciting news out of

CAIRO: Sungrow just launched a brand-new energy storage
manufacturing facility in Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone. Once running, it'll pump out a planned 10 GWh annually. Operations kick off in June 2027, and honestly, that's not far away at all.
Feeding the Sustainable Energy Valley

The facility's first batch of output won't just sit around, though. It'll directly support the Sustainable Energy Valley project in Minya Governorate, a joint effort between Egypt's government and Norway's Scatec.

Specifically, Sungrow will supply 4 GWh of storage systems there, giving the project a serious boost.

Meanwhile, Aswan Is Already Shining

Meanwhile, Sungrow's track record in Egypt keeps growing. It recently helped commission Abydos Phase II, a solar-plus-storage project in Aswan supplying 1.2 GW of PV and 720 MWh of storage.

Consequently, once fully live, it'll become Africa's largest single-site solar-plus-storage project.

Why Localization Matters

According to VP Thompson Meng, localized manufacturing means faster, more responsive support across the Middle East and Africa. Additionally, Sungrow aims to deepen supply chains and train local talent.

Ultimately, it's about unlocking Egypt's potential as Africa's clean energy hub.
