Sunshine in the Server Room: Beyon Plugs Into the Sun

Beyon has announced the expansion of its green data centre portfolio during Gateway Gulf 2026. A third data centre will soon run entirely on renewable energy once Phase 5 of the Beyon Solar Park programme wraps up. H.E. Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Beyon Group, attended the announcement.

Beyon developed Phase 5 with Almoayyed Solar, investing roughly BD544,500. The project covers 14,000 square meters and includes 2,292 solar panels, adding up to 1.5 MWp. Once finished, it should generate about 2.5 GWh of clean energy yearly. Consequently, it will cut carbon emissions by more than 1,585 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

This milestone didn't appear overnight. Last year at Gateway Gulf 2025, Phase 3 powered Beyon's Tier III Certified Data Center in Hamala entirely with renewables. Then, in 2026, Phase 4 turned Total CX's Customer Contact Centre into Bahrain's first green contact centre.

Beyon Group CEO Andrew Kvaalseth believes data centre growth should go hand in hand with sustainability. Likewise, Almoayyed International Group Chairman Mohammed Almoayyed praised the partnership's lasting commitment to clean energy. Ultimately, as demand for cloud and digital services grows, Beyon keeps building resilient infrastructure while supporting Bahrain's carbon-reduction ambitions.
