Beyond the Barrel: How Sinopec Is Writing Africa's Next Chapter

Cairo set the stage on October 25, when China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation released Sinopec's Sustainability Report in Africa (2021-2025). The report looks back at five years of progress in energy cooperation, environmental protection, community development, and cultural exchange. Meanwhile, the company also introduced WE17, its global sustainability communication brand.

Between 2021 and 2025, Sinopec implemented 33 projects across 16 African countries. Its investment topped US$5.7 billion, while tax and social responsibility contributions passed US$4 billion. Moreover, its 2025 operations directly created 16,000 local jobs.

Sinopec is exploring wind and solar power for Egypt's Western Desert oilfields. As a result, gas flaring at the Sinopec-Apache project fell by more than 60%. Elsewhere, Ethiopia's Adama Wind Power Project meets about 20% of the capital's electricity demand, and Uganda's ultra-low-noise rigs cut emissions by over 90%.

Beyond energy, Sinopec invests in communities. For instance, its welding program in Uganda certified 60 workers, and its teams helped build over 70 water supply plants. In Egypt, the company supported 201 girls' schools, serving over 15,000 students.

Cultural exchange matters too. Consequently, the "Silk Road Book House - China Bookshelf" initiative now reaches Egypt, Algeria, and Cameroon.

Finally, WE17 arrives with the slogan "Together for Better." It aligns with the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals and centers on Clean, Care, and Culture. About 100 guests from government, business, academia, and media attended the launch.

Riyadh's New AI Power Move: Dyna.Ai and GAPP Team Up for the Kingdom's Smartest Year Yet

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Big news dropped at LEAP 2026. Dyna.Ai, the Singapore-based AI-as-a-Service leader, joined forces with Gulf Applications Co. (GAPP).

Together, they're bringing agentic AI straight into enterprise IT environments across the Kingdom. That means real results, not just buzzwords.

The partnership will explore rolling out Dyna.Ai's platform, including voice and text AI agents plus AI Employee solutions. Organizations get options tailored to their needs.

Instead of standalone tools, these agents will embed into daily operations. Think internal workflows and client-facing service, all while respecting local data-governance rules.

Timing is everything, and 2026 happens to be Saudi Arabia's official Year of Artificial Intelligence under SDAIA. Consequently, demand for practical AI is surging across sectors.

This partnership directly answers that call, aligning with Vision 2030's digital-economy goals. Carlton Liew of Dyna.Ai called it a "lower-risk path to measurable business results."

Ahmed Al Azmah of GAPP emphasized pairing global tech with local expertise to elevate operational standards. That combination could reshape how Saudi organizations automate work.

Ultimately, this deal marks Dyna.Ai's latest Middle East expansion—and a promising signal for what's next.
