Big news is blooming in Saudi Arabia. The Environment Fund has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tanmiah Food Company, and the goal is simple: strengthen cooperation across key environmental areas. H.E. Eng. Abdulrahman AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, attended the signing.
Tanmiah isn't new to this. Its "One Million Trees" initiative has already planted more than 550,000 trees. Moreover, the MoU keeps that momentum going.
Next up is a SAR 2 million initiative to plant 100,000 trees in Al-Ahsa in 2026. Additional locations also feature in the cooperation plan.
Trees are only part of the story. The partnership also covers environmental research, funding mechanisms, and coordination on plans and activities. Furthermore, both parties will join local and international initiatives and exhibitions under the Fund's umbrella.
Munir Al-Sahli, Acting CEO of the Environment Fund, sees private-sector partnerships as long-term collaborations. They turn commitments into tangible projects, he says.
Zein Mohammed Attar, Managing Director of Tanmiah, agrees. She believes public and private efforts together create lasting impact.
This agreement sets a cooperation framework, nothing more yet. Any future projects or financial commitments will need separate agreements. Still, it supports Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, and that's a promising start.
