The Breaking Point Blues: Palestine’s Banks Cry SOS Before the Crash

Hey, listen up. Palestinian Monetary Authority Governor Yahya Shunnar just dropped a serious warning at a high-level sit-down with ambassadors and global finance folks. He stressed that Israeli moves keep pushing the economy toward total collapse.

Moreover, he flagged how this threatens food security and basic services right now. The meeting carried the stark title “The Breaking Point: Sounding the Alarm Before the Collapse,” and voices from Jordan’s central bank, the Arab Monetary Fund, the IMF, and local bank leaders all chimed in.

Meanwhile, Shunnar urged the world to step up fast and protect those correspondent banking relationships—Palestine’s only real pipeline for trade under the Paris Protocol. Any break, he warned, would spark shortages of fuel, food, and energy while prices, joblessness, and poverty soar.

Nearly NIS 18 billion sits locked in vaults, and Israeli banks handled NIS 51 billion in deals last year. Therefore the window is slamming shut, and everyone agreed urgent action is the only way to keep the system breathing.
